Kurume kasuri is a traditionational textile with a history of 200 years. This textile is produced in the Chikugo region (Kurume City, Chikugo City, Yamegun Hirokawa Town, Yame City). All are in the Fukuoka Prefecture and are developing various textiles based on traditional techniques. In particular, this group of 12 weavers and our company called “igeta-no-kai” researchs weaving, spinning, dyeing, design and the market. we are making traditional crafts for the future. ~The point of this exhibition~ 1:Introducing textiles using yarn such as hemp, tencel, polyester. 2:Introducing cotton textiles using fine thread count of 60/2 to uneven yarn such as mole, slab, and neps. 3:Introducing a dyeing with natural dyes such as indigo and plant. 4:Introducing a double ikat which is typical of Kurume kasuri. |
